GameSpot's "On the Spot" Premiere Episode will be available for
viewing on www.gamespot.com Thursday, June 24th at 6:00PM-EDT
GameSpot, the leading source for game information, and a property
of CNET Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: CNET), today announced the upcoming
premiere of the Web's first live weekly Webcast show about gaming,
called "On The Spot," which can be seen at www.gamespot.com on
Thursday, June 24th at 6:00PM-EDT. The first show will be broadcasted
live from Electronic Arts' (NASDAQ: ERTS) Tiburon studio located in
Orlando, Florida and will feature an exclusive look at several
different games currently in production, including Madden NFL 2005,
the best-selling football videogame of all time, which is scheduled to
hit the store shelves on August 12, 2004.
"On The Spot" will be hosted by GameSpot producers Ryan Mac Donald
and Rich Gallup, who will spend the hour-long show discussing Madden
NFL 2005, as well as NASCAR(R) 2005: Chase for the Cup(TM), and
NCAA(R) Football 2005 with the developers of each game franchise. The
show will also give GameSpot Complete members a chance to test their
Madden NFL 2004 gaming skills with one of the very best members of the
EA Tiburon team, live and online.
Serving over 12.5 million video streams last month, GameSpot is
tuning into the needs of its core audience of 18-34 year old males who
are increasingly turning off the TV and spending more time on the
Internet and games.
"With 83% of GameSpot's audience on a broadband connection, we are
creating this weekly live show to meet GameSpot users' growing demand
for live streaming video," commented Ankarino Lara, Director of
GameSpot. "By showcasing Madden NFL 2005 from EA SPORTS, we are giving
our audience an exclusive inside look at one of the most anticipated
games of the year while taking advantage of the unique interactive
features of live streaming."
EA SPORTS(TM) has a worldwide reputation for setting the standard
with its powerhouse sports franchises, such as Madden NFL 2005, which
will mark the 15-year anniversary of this particular series. Madden
NFL 2005 will feature new defensive tools to allow gamers to make more
plays, including the all-new "Hit Stick", giving gamers the chance to
turn the momentum of the game in their favor, as well as the new
"Storyline Central" mode, which will give gamers the inside scoop
around the league to help make critical franchise decisions.
"We have an incredible line-up of games coming out over the next
2.5 months and we can't wait to show off each one to the GameSpot
audience," said Steven Chiang, vice president and studio general
manager of Electronic Arts-Tiburon. "The talented teams here have been
working really hard to deliver what are shaping up to be our best
products ever."
After the premiere Webcast of "On The Spot", the show will take
its regular time slot of Thursdays at 7:00PM-EDT, with the next
episode airing Thursdays, July 1, 2004. Also, the past shows will be
archived and available at: http://www.gamespot.com/onthespot/.
