SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2007--CNET Networks, Inc.
(NASDAQ:CNET), a leading interactive media company, today announced
that former Time Warner executive Jack Haire will be joining the
company as Special Advisor to the CEO. In this role, he will be
dedicated to optimizing the corporate advertising sales strategy in
collaboration with the company's leadership team. Haire will increase
CNET Networks visibility among a broader set of advertisers and
agencies by leveraging the company's portfolio of leading brands
including TV.com, BNET, GameSpot, and CNET.
Haire has more than 25 years experience with Time Warner. Most
recently, Haire ran the Time Inc. Corporate Sales & Marketing division
as Executive Vice President and chaired the Time Warner Advertising
Council, which was responsible for the development and sale of the
company's largest advertising contracts. Earlier in his career, Haire
served as publisher of TIME Magazine from 1993 through 1998, when it
was chosen as Adweek's Hottest Magazine. From 1998 through 2001, as
President of the Fortune/Money Group, he helped Fortune to achieve its
best years in circulation, advertising and market share, and partnered
with CNN on the launch of CNNMoney.com, one of the Web's most
successful and profitable finance sites.
"Jack is a highly respected media executive with proven success in
building revenue strategies and marketing programs across multiple
brands and media types," said Neil Ashe, CEO of CNET Networks. "As the
media landscape continues to evolve, he brings a unique perspective to
our organization. His background is a perfect fit for CNET Networks'
long-term strategy as we continue to build brands for people and the
things they are passionate about."
The position was created to provide experienced and dedicated
executive leadership to the sales organization in order to realize the
full power of the company's brands. In the role of Special Advisor to
the CEO, Haire will focus on creating strategic relationships,
mentoring a world-class sales team and maximizing resources for
growth. Haire will be based in New York and will work closely with
Neil Ashe and the executive management team.
"In this world of media fragmentation, marketers are more
challenged today than ever before in reaching their customers.
Aggregating passionate audiences across multiple brands, CNET Networks
creates the perfect environment for marketers to connect and engage
with these elusive consumers," said Jack Haire. "This is an exciting
opportunity for me. CNET Networks is driving the evolution of
interactive media and I'm looking forward to playing an active role in
shaping the company's future.
