Food and Drink Interactive Website Kicks Off Recipe Challenge With
Macaroni 'n' Cheese
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2008--CHOW
(www.chow.com), an interactive website for food and drink enthusiasts
online and a property of CNET Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNET), is
throwing an all-out food fight. Each month CHOW will launch a Food
Fight Recipe Challenge, putting a call out to anyone who thinks his or
her recipes are the best. The first challenge will begin February 1,
2008, with a call for macaroni 'n' cheese recipes. A new Challenge and
a fresh call for recipes will be announced the first of every month
thereafter.
Foodies can publish their favorite mac 'n' cheese recipe and photo
on CHOW using the new Member Recipes feature, and let the voting
begin! Votes will be used as a guideline to select the top recipes,
which will be tested by the CHOW food editors. The winner will get
bragging rights and his or her recipe featured on CHOW's home page.
"CHOW readers love to experiment with food, and they take
tremendous pride in the recipes that they have discovered and
created," said Jane Goldman, editor in chief and vice president, CHOW.
"Food Fight is a way for our readers to show this pride and prove that
they've got the best recipe. Each month will bring a new challenge and
a new chance to prove that you're at the top of the recipe game."
The Food Fight Recipe Challenge utilizes CHOW's first-of-its-kind
online recipe feature, which launched in November 2007. Members can
upload new recipes, or hack existing ones and save the modifications
alongside the originals. These new features are perfect for
gastronomes who always find themselves tweaking ingredient portions or
who want to share their creative interpretations of a familiar recipe
standard. Unlike other online food sites, CHOW has a revolutionary,
organized database that allows users to view all hacks made by other
members, and to upload photos in a visually appealing format.
CHOW Food Fight Recipe Challenge participants can post their mac
'n' cheese recipes and gather votes
(http://www.chow.com/contests/macaroniandcheese) anytime after
February 1 through the end of the challenge. Winners will be announced
in March 2008.
CHOW Entry and Submission Guidelines
To officially enter the CHOW Food Fight Recipe Challenge, you must
upload your recipe using the "Publish a Recipe" form. You can then
view it and everyone else's submission on the Challenge entries page.
Please read the FAQ and Terms of Use for more information about
publishing a recipe on CHOW.
Our food editors are looking for a clearly written recipe that
fits into the category called for (photos of the finished product are
appreciated but not required) and results in a consistent finished
product. Ingredients, measurements, and instructions should be
precise. Writing some history or context of the recipe in the intro is
helpful--is it a family recipe? Or is it something you came up with
yourself?
Recipe submission must be your own, original content. Hacks are
not accepted.
The entries with the top votes will be used as a guideline when
CHOW food editors select recipes for testing.
Winners will be announced within the month following the challenge
and will be contacted via the email address listed in their CHOW user
account.
The challenges run from 12:01 p.m. on the first of the month to 5
p.m. on the last day of the month (all times PDT).
